another miracle

Letter home.

This week has been amazing. We are excited because the families that we areteaching are all comitted to getting married and baptized. for example, with the family Barloco (parents of Pamela and Coti) we saw one of the biggest miricles of my mission so far. Its a really long and complicated story... but basicly, about two years ago tgey were with the misioneros and were working hard so that he could be legally divorced in the USA and here so that they could get married and baptized. They had recieved all of the papers to make it legal, and sent them to a legal translator so that she could put then into spanish, but what happened is that her office burnt down with the papers and computer and everything, so the barlocos lost their fire, and stopped progressing. After this time, the dad really did not want anything to do with the church, but then last tuesday we had a really good lesson with them and for the first time in 2 years he commited to get married and baptized!! This is mircle one. But then the wife (who has wanted to get baptized the whole time) stood up, and right at that moment called the lady who was doing the papers back then. The lady (who is  a member) said that just the day before, she was looking through a bunch of old documents that she had restored from the fire, and felt impressed to finish their´s. This is a huge miricle. So all they have to do now is retrieve the papers, and set up the mariage!

Thats just one of the many miricles that we saw this week :) I love the misson

ASADO!

Every one that was there!

Baptism of Pamela (the older one) and Coti (the other).

ASADO!!!!!!!!! This is how we do it here in Uruguay. It is delicious. Last PDAY we got together with a couple elders in the house of a member and had a barbeque (Asado). The way of cooking it here is just to make a big fire, and then spread the coals under a metal rack. Its way easy to do, and it tastes better, so I know how Ill be cooking my meat after the mission :)

We had a great week. Recectly the Lord has been blessing us with a ton of awesome families to teach.  Right now we are teaching 5 families that are progressing. The problem is that none of them are married... So we are working really hard to help all of them to be able make that step. Its really fun to be able to teach families. To help them understand the importance of marriage and the plan that God has for them. I feel like the spirit is always stronger in the charlas that we have with families.

One thing that was fun that I did this week was an exchange with one of the District Leaders in San Jose de Mayo, a little city about 2 hours away from Las Piedras. I really enjoyed wirking there, because it has the small, interior-city feel that exists here in Uruguay. I cant really explain it, because it doesnt exist in the USA, but I love working in small little cities like there. I hope to be able to end my mision in somewhere like there. I bet there might be a few pictures of San Jose Uruguay somewhere on the internet if you look...

Anyways, I am really happy with what is going on right now in my life an my mission. Please prey that we can find people who can get baptized quickly, without the need to change a bunch of things first (like getting married etc..)

Thanks for everythnig,

Elder Wilson

weekly email

First things first, We had the baptisms of Pamela (19) and Coti (11) Barloco! They are part of a family of 5 that about 2 years ago were investigationg the chruch for about an entire year, but in the end never got baptized. The priblem was that the parents are not married, and its complicated because the spouse of the mom got married years ago in the USA, so he has to get a divorce there in order to get married, which is really complex and expensive... especially because he was illegal in the US when he got married. But we have faith that things will work out so that they can be able to get married and be able to got baptized.

It was a really special baptismal service because a lot of members showed up, and especially a lot of non members. I love baptismal services because the spirit is ALWAYS present. In the baptismal service I love to just sit back, relax, and see all of the hard work and sacrifice pay off. I know that the reason that I am here on the mission is to baptize. I love being here, and I really am enjoying my time.

today is Pday, and it was a really fun pday. In the morning we played soccer (like every single pday) and then went to a members house and had an Asado! (Barbeque) It was super delicious, and really fun to spend time with some other Elders, and with the familly. I really love the people here in uruguay. they are super fun to be around, and really funny... Its hard to describe, but I'll act it out to all of you after the misson :)

Anyways, thank you all for your support, and pray that we can find new investigators!! thats what we are in the search for.

I love you all
Elder Wilson.

ps I'll send pictures next week. my computer is not letting me right now.

food, conferences, and a hug

a standard Uruguayan food, the Milanesa. Its a massive piece of breaded and deepfried meat that they slap on a tiny bun and put on fried egg, ham, and a bunch of other seasonings and condaments and stuff. I love them, and they are super cheap ha. We baught one for every single missionary for the lunch at the zone conference

a picture of all the people that showed up at the baptism of Miciela and Nicolas, this is more people than go to the sacrament meeting, so that was really awesome to see all of the support. Where is waldo? hector is also there, and the mom of nicolas and mikiela, who we are teaching and she wasnts to get baptized, but her husband does not want to pay to get married.

this is my zone with president and hermana Da Silva at Zone conference

Elder vera, Marcos who baptized miciela, Miciela who got baptized (15 years old), Nicolas (12 years old but looks and acts like a 17 year old) who got baptized, Michiel who baptized nico, and me.

This was a really good week. At the beginning of the week we had my first zone conference as a zone leader here in Las Piedras. it was a special zone conference because it was the last one for President and Hermana DaSilva before they end their missions. It was cool because they showed a bunch of graphs and stuff that illistrates the progress that the mission has had in the last 3 years. It was aweosme to hear their testimionies at the end. they are the best mission presidents in the world, and I will miss them when they leave, but also I am excited to see the new presidents come in. Haha it was funny because at the end of the conference when everybody was saying goodbye for the last time to them, the Hermana gave evey missionary an hug!!! it was a conflicted feeling that i felt, but I figgured that since the president was standing right next to me it was OK ha. So thats the first time i have let a woman hug me in a year and a bit...

We are really happy because we will have 2 miracle baptisms this weekend! Illtell you all about them next week when they get baptized. We are also seeing a lot of progress in the way that the ward is supporting us in the work. Its hard in this ward to work with the ward leaders, because they are not overly relyable (for example this last sunday none of the 3 members of the bishopric showed up to church), but they are really good people. We keep on doing our best to get them to participate.

Well, please pray for Pamele and Coti (the baptisms for this weekend) so that they can stay firm.
