weekly letter

This was an awesome week! first things first, we had the baptisms of Nicolas and Mikiela Perdómo. they are brother and sister who we found clapping doors. their conversion really was really all because of what the ward did for them. All we did was teach them, and let the ward members do their part. It their baptismal service we had more members show up than usually go to sacrament meeting! it was awesome, and one of my favorite baptismal services that I have ever had on my mission. I have some good pictures of them, but I cant send them because my computer is acting up. Now we are with the Mom Claudia, who is awesome, just as active as her kids who got baptized, but she needs to get married, and the husband is putting up a fight. But prey for her please!

This sunday was one of the best sundays that I have had in my mission. We really saw a ton of miricles. First of all, our investigators almost all showed up, and had a good spiritual experience. Also, we got there and along came Nicolas and Mikiela with their sunday clothes! I felt so awesome to see nicolas rounding the corner in a new freshly-baught full suit and tie. the only thing that he was missing was a name tag that says ¨"Elder Perdómo", and mikaela came in a skirt and everything, and the mom even dressed up too (even though she had swarn to us that she would never dress up for church. Also a ton of our converts and less active families showed up too, and Hector got the priesthood and everything, it was awesome-

This saturday wasw a special day for me as I completed 1 year in the mission. It was a good moment to look back on what I have done so foar and to be able to make new goals and stuff. I cant believe that things are flying by so fastly! I feel like I just arrived here, but now Im a full blown missionary. Im scared that this next year is going to go by even faster than the first one, so I know that I am going to have to work super hard to get everything done that the lord wants of me.

Anyways, gotta go, but thanks to all for your support, and till next week

parades, transfers, and a resourceful baptism

The baptism of Hector! He is a Capo. Hector is the tall dark one, the little one is the member that baptized him (note the size difference)

May 18th was a super important day for the city of Las Piedras.

Ok, sorry, but i had problems with my computer last week, but here we go for this week.

So, first of all let me explain a little bit about Hector, the baptism that I had last week. Everything was going fine, he was all interviewed up andeveryting. The day of the baptism we went to the church to fill the font... and there was no water in the chruch! so we went into panic mode, and started to thing of the options. First, we called the fire department, and they came to fill it up with a fire hose, and they had just started to fill the font when the got a call for a real emergency and had to leave... so we were left there with a font full only about one foot with pretty durty fire water... but long story short ( and a ton of phone calls!) We had to just borrow the baptismal font of the church in the next door city. in the end, even though we saw a ton of opposition, everything turned out good, and it was one of the most spiritual baptismal services that I have ever had (eventhough he ended up getting almost baptized about 10 times, he had problems making it all the way under the water). It was a good testimony to me to see that no matter what opposition came our way, he wanted to get bptized that night, and the lord worked everything out for us in the end.

Last weekend was changes, and me and my companion both will stay here 6 week more! There were a lot of whitewashes in our zone, so we are having to work really hard to keep things running smooth, but i love having awesome district leaders who are self sufficiant. We are excited as a zone because we are seeing a ton of miricles (and beause we have 3 OROs in our zone which consist of a Brasilero and from Australia.)

This weekend we will have the baptisms of Nicolas and Miciela Perdomo, a brother and sister who are super amazing, but I will tell you all about them next week !

Thank you for your prayres and support. I love having so many people who are supporting me, and helping the work of the Lord to progress.

A Mother's Day Skype Call

This morning we got to Skype with Elder Wilson. He's doing so great, and it was awesome to see his face and hear his voice! (or should I say his Spanglish?)

We love you, Covey!

weekly letter

the zone leaders with President and HNA DaSilva

This week was an awesome week! The wether was perfect for missionary work. not hot or cold. Probably the most exciting thing that happened is that Hector (our investigator) came to church and we announced his baptism for this wednesday. He is super awesome and prepared for baptism. Heis a super humble guy, he works as a car watcher, which is a person that makes shure nobody steals the cars that are parked on the side of the streets, and if the people feel nice, they can tip him.... or in other words, he is really poor and humble for that. The nice thing is that he works on the street where we live, so if we want to make contact with him or check up on him all we have to do is poke our heads out the window and yell to him. Its a nice way to make daily contact. Ha, sometimes we see him sitting down on the curb reading the book of Mormon with his other friends.

From him I have learned of the importance of talking to everybody. He toldus that there are always a bunch of missionaries passing by, but they never talked to him.. and he was just waiting for contact. So, its been a great learning experience for me to be able to teach him.

But I am doing good. oh, the exciting food of the week for me is cow-bladder paste. Its really delicioso. you can easily spread it on all variety of foods. oh, and I was n a contact and a dog started peeing on my leg, which was a good experience also. and a drunk man priomised me that I am going to be the first person to be resurrected when christ comes, so thats also a nice thing to know, something reassuring.

But thank you all for your prayers and support. I am excited to be able to see my family this sunday through skype!
